Book Review - The Little Prince
Reflecting on some of life's most important themes with excerpts from The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
I'll let the passages from the book do most of the speaking. After all, this blog is meant to be a scattering of thoughts.
However, here are a few of my big takeaways:
- Presents a strong case for chasing fulfillment over materialism. As is clear with the planets The Little Prince visits, there is more to life than material - and the day-to-day struggle that most adults face. It makes a compelling and novel argument that really hits home compared to others who "just say it" – this makes you "feel it."
- The part that hit me the most wasn't the flower, or the boy's "suicide." It was actually the fox. It made me realize what it meant to have the opportunity to change someone's life, and make such a big impact on them. It was really beautiful.
- Life almost necessitates periods of wandering, because that's what growth involves. But never feel like you're stuck. Because you can always come back.
