Thoughts on Hiring
DO NOT hire people who are hesitant
As soon as there is ONE bad signal, it’s irreperable, especially at the beginning
They WILL leave later, or screw you in some way
XXXX left early, but if he stayed, he would scam
Quick word of advice/learning:
- - when hiring, if there’s ever even a 1% doubt/bad vibes you get from someone, you should not work with them
- - in all my projects, ventures, experiences, I’ve always noticed as soon as I get a weird vibe, it’s a bad signal
- - If someone spends time negotiating on the contract + role without even fully understanding the idea = bad signal.
- - better for ppl to leave now rather than later in 2 months
I’ve had similar bad signals with previous hires at sciencefair and other ventures. And every time I only realize later that I should’ve ended things at the beginning. Whether it was someone having bad communication/ghosting, not completing work on time, etc.
- NEVER let it slide. These are valid signals. There’s no such thing as “3 strikes” in a startup - especially this early - it’s 1 strike!
